Where to Watch the Sunset in Palm Springs

If you are planning a trip out to the desert and wondering what are some of the things you MUST do then trust me when I say this is something you don’t want to miss.

The desert has the most beautiful golden glow especially as the sun tucks behind the mountains each and every night. Here is a peek at some of my favorite places where to watch the sunset in Palm Springs!

Rooftop at the Kimpton Rowan

I can’t think of a better place than to grab some drinks and relax poolside from the rooftop of one of Palm Spring’s tallest hotels. The ambience is so chill and the Kimpton Rowan has the yummiest snacks and lounging area to keep you comfy while you enjoy the beauty.

Indian Canyon Drive

Basically, all you need to do is look for the windmills and pick a spot to set-up camp. If you are driving in from the freeway exit at Indian Canyon and turn right and you’ll see Indian Canyon stretch across the windmills.

If you are coming from downtown Palm Springs then take Indian Canyon northbound towards the freeway.

Once you see the windmills and a wide stretch of desert you can pull off on the side of the road and get ready for the view. Not only are the windmills another iconic Palm Springs destination but watching the sunset here is quite magical and you’ll probably see others pulling off as well.

Tommy Bahama in Palm Desert

Taking a drive east of Palm Springs you’ll find Tommy Bahama nestled amongst El Paseo and it’s multitude of shops, boutiques and the ultimate desert experience.

My favorite way to end the night is with dinner and a view. Be sure to grab a seat outside on the patio and with a second story view of the strip you’ll enjoy every second of the sunset.

Key’s Point in Joshua Tree

If you didn’t need another reason to head up to Joshua Tree this is me telling you that this is a MUST. Out of all the places listed this is by far my favorite place where to watch the sunset in Palm Springs and Joshua Tree because the view from Key’s Point is overlooking the entire valley.

Let me warn you though this is a popular location especially during season. If you plan on making the trip to the high desert it’s about 45 minutes deep into the national park once you enter through the main entrance. Make sure you plan extra time to find parking because there is limited availability and they fill quick.

It’s quite a magical experience.
