3 Tips for a Smooth Wedding Day

October 4, 2017

My friend, if you’re reading this then you are probably a #bridetobe and to that I say congratulations! Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life and I promise you there are going to be endless moments you’ll want to cherish forever and ever. However, we all know that planning for this day can be one of the most stressful times and I promise you it doesn’t have to be that way. Every step of the process in this journey should be exciting and YOU deserve to enjoy every lasting moment of it!

Whether you have a wedding planner or not there are countless decisions that fall on your shoulders and here are some tips I’ve learned to make the journey smooth sailing.

Truth be told things will almost always run behind and your perfectly crafted timeline will fall out of place. I always encourage my couples to schedule an extra 30 minutes for their portraits and add 10-15 minutes extra to each main event throughout the day. Having extra time will almost always work things out perfectly and if anything else, you might get a tiny break from the festivities.

From the bridal party gifts to packing for your honeymoon – geez there are a billion things for you to remember! Write out a list of all of the details that need to be coordinated and delegate them to bridesmaids and close family to relieve yourself from the pressure and to be at ease during your big day.

Often times if there isn’t a wedding planner present then the photographer is the next in line to keep the flow of the day going. After all – there are countless moments that need to be photographed so we often will remind friends/family/guests to keep things moving. Be sure to communicate details (big or small) with not only your photographer but parents and bridal party ahead of time so that everyone is on the same page. When details change in your timeline take a deep breath, be flexible and delegate a family member to communicate any changes with everyone.

At the end of the day friend, this is YOUR time to be present and celebrate a new chapter of life with your greatest love! Enjoy the process, celebrate every lasting moment, and begin your happily ever after.
